Writing Classes

Pen. Paper. Magic. is a welcoming writing workshop where thoughtfully crafted prompts help you quiet the noise, reconnect with yourself, and discover what wants to emerge on the page. Whether you’re navigating a life transition, nurturing a dream, or simply longing for a little more clarity, writing has a way of showing you what matters most.

There is no critiquing, no pressure to write “well,” and no writing experience required. We write by hand, share only if we choose, and celebrate the process rather than perfection. Bring a pen, a notebook, and your curiosity.

In 1997, these classes began as memoir workshops. This class returns to those roots, inviting you to use pen, paper, and personal experience to explore the stories that have shaped your life. You don’t need to have a memoir in progress or even know where to begin. Through prompts, conversation, and gentle guidance, we’ll uncover memories, moments, people, and experiences that may become the building blocks of your memoir. We’ll also look at ways to shape those pieces into a story that has meaning for you and your readers. As always, there’s no pressure to share anything you’re not ready to share. Bring a blank page, a story you’ve been carrying, or a memoir you’ve already begun and trust what emerges.

What to expect in class:

  • We write by hand with pen or pencil on paper. Old school and wonderfully refreshing.
  • Thoughtfully crafted prompts are designed to spark honest, first-thought writing.
  • Each prompt is an invitation to follow your curiosity and see where your pen leads.
  • You’ll write in short, timed sessions and are always welcome to read aloud, or simply say, “I’ll pass.”
  • We celebrate the writing process, not perfection. Grammar, spelling, and punctuation are invited to take the day off.
  • We encourage one another. We don’t critique one another.
  • Together we’ll create a warm, judgment-free space built on kindness, curiosity, and confidentiality.
  • Every participant agrees to our Class Agreement, which you can read here.
